Part of the film with music by Floyd (about 15 minutes). The recording
is taped from the movie itself, so the actors can be heard on front,
with the music in the background. Also to be found on the rarities
tapes.

10 minute recording from
the '
Magnesium Proverbs ' CD. A snippet of 'Pow R Toc h' and full
versions of 'Astronomy Domine' (Introduced by 'serious' musician Hans

is not from May but rather from 20jan1967.

Complete show. Suprisingly nice recording for something of this age
(Although the vocals are almost inaudible). This recording is
noteworthy
for some rare songs like 'Reaction In G' and 'One In A Million'.
Tracks:
Reaction In G / Arnold Layne / One In A Million / Mathilda Mother /
Scream Thy
Last Scream / Astronomy Domine

Complete show from the Hippy-Happy fair. (For a long time thought of as
being on the 12th, but only recently discovered to be from the 13th).
One of the last performances with Syd Barret. Vocals are a bit
inaudible, but it is a historic recording. Speedy version of 'Set The
Controls...' and rare performance of 'Reaction In G'. Tracks:
Reaction In G / Pow R Toc H / Old Woman In A Casket / Set The Controls

The Heart Of The Sun / Interstellar Overdrive

Date is dubious (to say the least). Most likely 'Scream Thy Last
Scream'
and 'Astronomy' are from Rotterdam 67 and 'Interstellar' is from
the Pop festival held on 4-7 may 1968 (see below). The rest I don't
know, although 'Let There Be More Light' could be from the may68 gigs.
Certainly not all songs are from Rome..

0.5TAPE(1gen)
9.5 International Pop
Festival, Palazzo Del Sports, Rome
Taken directly from radio. The dutch station VPRO had this broadcast
(again)
on 29apr1998. The sound is of course the best available although it's
obvious an old recording (and mono).
From a dutch music magazine from 1968, it's known that this recording
is indeed
from 6may68 (and not 5may as some sources indicate) and the venue was
the Pallazzo Del Sport and not the Piper club.
The festival was held at the Pallazo but moved to the Piper club the
last day. However Floyd had played before that, so at the Pallazzo.
Tracks:
Astronomy Domine / Interview with Roger Waters / Set The Controls For

* PARADISO (early show)
23may68 0.5TAPE(?gen)
6 Paradiso, Amsterdam
One of the more confusing dates.
Floyd played 23may68 two shows at Paradiso. Several tapes however are
labelled with dates like 30apr, 31may, 2jun, 31aug and 1sep.
Venue names as Paradiso and Fantasio are mentioned.
However, ALL of these come
from one of the two shows at 23may at Paradiso.
From my personal research
(through dutch papers e.g.) I found out that the band
never (ever!) played at Fantasio, so that venue is definitely wrong.
Furthermore, floyd was scheduled to play 30apr at Paradiso and they
were present at that date, but .... they didn't play! Dave (or Roger,
reports on this differ) did make an announcement that they could not
play due to a lack of working permit. That story I could verify from a
newspaper and a book on 25 years of Paradiso where it was indeed
mentioned Floyd weren't allowed to play because the unions objected to
a working permit.
The 30apr show was rescheduled to 23may. At that day they played two
shows. This tape is from the first one.

See comment above at the 'early show'.
This tape was labelled as
'31 may Fantasio' but is in fact the 23may, late show.
As with these old recording, the sound isn't great, but just about
listenable. The set list however is quite interesting. 'Keep Smiling
People' is a very early version of 'Careful With That
Axe, Eugene' and also 'Flaming' wasn't played that often.

This is a compilation of
the two shows at 23may.
'Keep Smiling People' and

roio-database on thsi one.

As far as I know this contains a complete show. Concerning the age in
not too bad sound quality. Some tapes of this show have a cut version
of 'Saucer' on them. This one, too. but I have another tape with an
uncut 'Saucer' but also in a bit lesser sound quality.

Date and place of this tape is dubious (to say the least). Alledgy, no
tape of this show is suppose to exist.
'Careful With That Axe' and 'Saucerful Of Secrets' are a direct
rip off from Ummugumma. The other two songs are from the 8aug69
Plumpton show (see below).
Anyway this tape certainly is NOT from Belfast!

One of the few occasions
where they played the concept piece 'The Man And The
Journey'. Unfortunately this tape is pretty poor. The sound is
distorted
at time and there are cuts all over the place
(in the most inconvenient places). It does however contain a few
snippets from Nick's drum solo, the wood chopping sound during
'work'.

the debut of the famous azimuth coordinator dated on 14apr69 at the
Royal FESTIVAL hall. But, recent discoveries showed this tape to be
from 26jun at the royal ALBERT hall.
I have no less then three
copies of this show. The best sounding however misses
the encore, but I do have that only in lesser sound.
Tracks:

The Journey (Pt 1): Beginning (Green Is The Colour) / Beset By

I got part of this show in (far) better sound (See above) but this one
is more complete.
Contains (among others) 'The Journey' (cut over two tape sides). There
is some tape hiss but hardly any audience noise (gosh, people were
quite in those days) At some parts (Interstellar) the balancing is
bad. (The left channel has much lower sound level during Astronomy).

This is the Great Dane (Italian label) release. Although from dutch

17sep69 TAPE /
CR(R)
10 Concertgebouw, Amsterdam
On 26nov97 the VPRO radio decided to rebroadcast the first part of this
show on dutch radio. This resulted in about half an hour in superb
quality (far better then any other recording so far!) Pity they didn't
let us hear the whole thing. At least...I thought. Then on 17feb98 the
VPRO had the enormous wisdom of broadcasting the second part ,too!
So, here we have the almost complete 17sep69 show (only about 12min of
the tea party and a bit of drum solo is missing) and it's all in superb
quality!
I have a first generation
tape (directly from the radio broadcast) but I also
have a CD-R of this show and (for the completionists) I have the second
part of this show also on CD(R) from the original 1970 broadcast.
There's an extra 'announcer' at the beginning not previously
broadcast. A girl talking about the 'concept' and telling the
photographers to clear off after about 6 minutes because 'the people in
the most expensive seats can't see anything and that's a pity' :-)
The second part contains the footsteps sequence used normally during
Cymbaline. A dutch DJ explains during these footsteps that the surround
effect in the Concertgebouw is hard to get on the radio.

doubt that it is from the same show. Unfortunately the sound isn't

Except for The Embryo a complete show. Also (wrongly) listed as being
from Birmingham
Town Hall on 8 March 1970. Despite what has been said in the

makes me believe to think this is not the same version as described in

minor speed problems) but overall it's a very enjoyable tape. Audience
is very quite.
The performance is very good. A very good version of "Interstellar'

Newly surfaced recording of a show for which not even the set list was
known. This recording has been recorded "for personal use only" and the
taper has kept it personal up until 2003. Apparently not knowing the
interest for this show. Sound is pretty good with a bit of distortion
as selected points.
It features a rare live performance of "Grandchester Meadows" and
"Atom Heart Mother" was still untitled. "Saucerful Of Secrets" cuts

Apparently a very rare recording, since even the set lists for this

The sound is just awesome. It's an audience recording but the quality
matches that of Ummagumma!
"Set The Controls", which was the last song is missing (but see the

(usually, 'Green' follows 'Astronomy').
Filler are a few songs from the famous Pepperland recording (also great
sound!
On another disc I also have 'Set The controls For The Heart Of The

Complete show. 'Astronomy Domine' last for over 20 minutes, not because
it is an extended version, but because they had to start over 4(!)

As for the date of this show .... Aaaaagh, that's complicated!.
Sometimes it's labelled as being from July 1970. According to Jon
Rosenbergs wonderful book 'A Journey Through Time and Space' the most
likely date is sometime in November 1970 and not in July. I have seen a
date of 5nov but according to 'Live Tape Rewound' this should be 27nov.
And to make things even more complicated, Povey's and Russel's
book 'In The Flesh' claim this tape is from 14nov70, Hamburg and they
list for 27nov a cancelled show in Colongne.
The 14nov70, Ernst Merck Halle, Hamburg now seems to be the
consensus.
Anyway, it's a complete Show. A very strange performance of 'Embryo'
(about 26 minutes) starting off with steps resembling the intro to
'Time', then something similar to 'moonhead', contains some snippets
from 'Several Species..', the screaming seagulls like in
'Echoes' and some more 'mocking around'.

A complete show were it not that "Interstellar Overdrive" cuts out a

speed problems.

Now this is a strange cookie. It claims to be from the music festival
in Montreux in 1970 (not to be confused with the 1971 performance at
the same festival). Although it must be a show from sometime in between
September and December 1970. Most sources list this as being
from 21nov. However, the 'In The Flesh' book lists this as being
from the 22nd.
Judging from the sound it
could be that 'Embryo' and the first 'blues' are from
a different show then the rest. At least 'Embryo' is different from the
complete show I have (see above).
The Amazing Pudding (best
of 1-6) had a picture of alledgy the acetate of this
show to be released (but it never happened). On the labels of
this acetate the same track listing was mentioned.
Floyd did play the Montreux festival at both 21 nov and 22nov 1970.
The sound is excellent although there is a little bit of distortion on
the louder parts. It's a stereo recording most notable during the
footsteps sequence in Cymbaline. During 'Cymbaline' an amplifier blows
out, causing some noise for a minute or so. The 'Embryo' has a wailing
part in it (as in 'Echoes'). The audience is very quite.

due to the very high volume at which the Floyd played. During the show
a giant Octopus strolled through the audience. This was the second time
'Echoes' was performed. 'Echoes' includes alternative lyrics and there
is some vocal 'humming' at the end which I didn't hear ever again in
later recordings. Some audience members are talking pretty close (and
clear) to the taper (mostly whining about the rain). 'Fat Old Sun' cuts
out a few seconds too early.

Strange tape. Includes 'echoes' with alternative lyrics but cuts out
some 10-15 seconds too early. In between 'Cymbaline' and 'Embryo' there
is a small bit of 'A Saucerful Of Secrets' but that cuts out.
The sound is listenable but at points there's some distortion and some
small cuts. Besides that, it runs a little bit too fast.

Taken from vinyl. A little distant recording. 'Echoes' cuts in after
the first
verses (which is a pity, because it would probably have different
lyrics). 'A Saucerful Of Secrets' cuts out early. There is some hiss
and the running order of the show has been changed
(probably to make it fit on the double album).
Tracks:

It sounds a bit like it's been recorded from a distance and it also
does contain some hiss. This (complete) show however is very good with
all very loooong songs. A very good performance of 'echoes' with
alternative lyrics and an also very nice 'Atom Heart Mother'. On 'Set
The Controls...' there's a bit of 'print through' in the right channel
(obviously they used an 'old' tape and the previous recording wasn't
entirely erased). . Last performance of 'Astronomy Domine' until it's
resurrection in 1994

Audience recording from a free open air show (Amstel Rock Festival).
For those who care: My mother found me to young to go, but my older
brother was at this show, but didn't like it :-(. Having heard this
album, I think he was wrong. Embryo has children's sound and
Echoes-like
wailing. Cymbaline is without the footsteps sequence but has some woman
breathing instead. There's also a bit of pictish ranting.

From the origin as the LP mentioned above, only this one alledgy is

The date of this recording is not sure. Most likely it's from 7aug71.
'Echoes' has been severely cut. It starts at the beginning of the
second
verse, which is really a pity because it should have the alternative
lyrics. Further more the middle part has also been edited. 'Cymbaline'
cuts out a little early and contains no middle section (e.g. the
footsteps). I can't be sure but I believe it wasn't played. (Couldn't
hear an edit). Sound is pretty decent. It seems the source for
this CD was vinyl because a few minor pops and clicks can be heard.

16apr72 TAPE(?gen)
7.5 Township Auditorium, Columbia, SC
I'm not sure if this is the complete show. Some sources say this was
all, others claim that 'Echoes' was played as an encore. However,
far as I know this tape contains all that ever surfaced on tape.
DarkSideOfTheMoon is the early version with the jams and the morality
sequence,
unfortunately 'Brain Damage' cuts out to early (and therefore 'eclipse'
is missing).
Tracks:
Side 1:
DarkSideOfTheMoon
Side 2:
One Of These Days / Careful

* PITTSBURG (1972)
20apr72 TAPE(?gen)
7.5 Syria Mosque Theatre, Pittsburg
Complete show I suspect however, 'Brain Damage' cuts out after only two
line and 'Echoes' cuts out before the last verse.
'Breath (reprise)' has an unusual long intro, sounds like Dave forgot
to
start singing.
Tracks:

Speak To Me / Breath / On The

Them / Any / Colour You Like / Brain Damage (cuts)

Complete show but 'echoes' cuts over tape sides. The (dutch) tapers can

hilarious at times.

Except for 'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun' a complete show.
And What
a Show is was! Good Jamming on 'On The Run' and 'Any Colour You Like'.
This version of 'Careful With That Axe, Eugene' is by far the best I
ever heard. 'Echoes' cuts in a little after
the pings and cuts out a little too early, too. This is one of my
favourite shows.
On another tape (as filler) I also have 'Set The Control...' from this
show.
And (even better) I also have the complete show on CD-r.
Tracks:
Side 1:
DarkSideOfTheMoon
Side 2:
Careful with That Axe, Eugene / Echoes / One Of
These Days
* JEMIG DE PEMIG (BOEBLINGEN 1972)

The complete show this time. The first disk is quite good in sound but
the second
one a bit less. Set The Controls is clearly an even lower generation
copy.
Best ever version of ´Careful With That Axe, Eugene´ (the
9dec72 Zurich version is a good second!)
Tracks:
CD 1:
DarkSideOfTheMoon
Filler: Roger Waters: Lost Boys Calling
CD 2:
One Of These Days / Careful

Heart Of The Sun
15nov72 TAPE(1gen)
4.5-7.5 Boeblingen, Germany / studio
This one contains also some studio recordings. Weird version of 'One Of
These Days' (demo or fraud?) with DJ talking over the music.
Unfortunately the tape is recorded at to low sound level so there is a
lot of hiss. esp. 'One Of These Days' is in poor condition. (But I have
a better version on the 'rarities' tapes). 'Echoes' is announced by
Roger as 'Looking Thru The Knothole in Granny's Wooden leg'
(from Boeblingen). The second 'Interstellar' is from the San Francisco
movie. The 'Zabriski Announcement' is really a few lines of 'Flaming'.
Tracks:
Side 1:
One Of These Days / Looking
Through The Knothole In Granny's Wooden Leg (Echoes)
Side 2:
Interstellar Overdrive (including Zabriski Announcement) /
Interstellar

This show was broadcast on RTL-radio (sounds like an AM-recording).
The tape is (almost) complete but 'DarkSideOfTheMoon..' starts off in

this was the first time 'Childhoods End' was performed.

Source was vinyl. Same show as ´Childhood´s
Beginning´ (see below) only ´Childhoods End´ is
missing on this one. Running order is probably wrong as
DarkSideOfTheMoon was
the first set and the second set should be ´One Of These
Days´, Axe, Echoes. There's some pictisch ranting on
´Careful With
That Axe, Eugene´ with Roger shouting ´Speak To Me! Speak
To Me!´.
